Huge Double Header on tap for DIRTcar Series at Merrittville Speedway

The Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series invades Merrittville Speedway on Monday, August 1st for a history making night at the ¼ mile oval in memory of Bob St. Amand Sr.

For the first time in DIRTcar history, both the big-block and the 358 Super DIRTcar Series will be at the same track on the same night for points-paying events. Along with a complete show for the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series, the DIRTcar 358 Series will run the final 75 laps of their 100-lap feature postponed from May 23rd.

Brett Hearn currently leads the 358-Series race after 25-laps, as he continues his march towards 800 career wins. “The Jet” currently sits at 797 career victories heading into the weekend, and could potentially pick up the historic 800th win at Monday night.

Hearn will have to hold off a fantastic field of 358 and big block modifieds in order to claim victory. While Hearn currently leads the 358-Series event, top-tier drivers including Mike Bowman, Pete Bicknell, Chad Brachmann, Jimmy Phelps, Carey Terrance, Stewart Friesen, Matt Sheppard, Danny Johnson, David Hébert, Dale Planck, Mario Clair and more will be restarting right behind Hearn.

In Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series action another stout field of racecars is expected to be in attendance. While Hearn continues his march towards history, Matt Sheppard march towards a second consecutive Super DIRTcar Series Big-Block Series title. Sheppard has methodically been erasing Decker’s Series points lead. Decker and Sheppard will continue their colossal battle at Merrittville.

Canadian stars Stewart Friesen and David Hébert look to continue their fantastic seasons in the Bob St. Amand Sr. Memorial 100. Both drivers are among the leaders in all of dirt modified racing in wins in 2011.

Jimmy Phelps, Danny Johnson, Dale Planck, Larry Wight, Gary Tomkins, Peter Britten, Rob Bellinger, Rich Scagliotta, Tim Currier, Mario Clair, Matt Billings, and Dan Humes all plan on invading the ¼ mile as well.

Defending Merrittville Speedway champion Pete Bicknell leads a stellar field of Merrittville regulars on hoping to keep the winner’s purse north of the border Monday night. Bicknell once again leads Merrittville Speedway points heading into the weekend.
Former champions Larry Lampman and Chad Brachmann, and rising stars Mike Bowman, Tommy Flannigan, and Mat Williamson headline the local talent expected to be in competition on Monday.

Gates open at 4:00 p.m. with cars hitting the track at 6:30 p.m. The 358-Series race is scheduled to go green at 7:05, with Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series time trials tentatively scheduled for 8:20.
