CMH SALES & LEASING NIGHT AT MERRITTVILLE ALSO FEATURES SPORTSMAN KING OF THE CRATES SERIES FINALE

Thorold, Ontario (August 5) In a little more than 24 hours Merrittville Speedway’s Original Pizza Logs DIRTcar Sportsman Division will wrap up the 2011 King of the Crates Series powered by Niagara Motors as part of the Saturday August 6th CMH Sales and Leasing Night.

“With the new format for the King of the Crates this season … the first two events have produced a race that might go right down to the wire,” reveals (Merrittville Speedway General Manager) Erica Bicknell-Jones, “anyone in the top 5 has a shot at the crown with an outside chance of the Champion being someone in the Top 10.”
For the third edition – drivers will receive points for their feature finishing positions as in the past but a new addition for 2011 will see points awarded as well for heat finishes for the top 3 finishers.

“In the first two years of the Series … Greg Panunte has come out on top only to share the title with Chad Chevalier and Ken Cosgrove,” remembers Bicknell-Jones, “going into the night he is just 13 points behind leader Brad Rouse while BJ Willard is only 7 out of top spot.”

Rouse won the Spring Sizzler 60 before Willard came out on top Saturday June 11th leading into Saturday August 6th’s finale. In 4th spot, Cody McPherson is just 16 points behind Rouse with Jesse Cotriss in 5th just 24 points off the pace.

Paul Gaboury, Jim Johnstone, Gary Lindberg, Rob Knapp and Adam Leslie round out the top 10 with Leslie 49 points out of top spot.

The ‘Niagara Motors King of the Crates’ as all drivers that compete in the Original Pizza Logs Division share one thing in common – the GM 602 Crate Engine.

Niagara Motors – an authorized performance parts dealer in the Niagara Peninsula is a Pontiac Buick and GMC Dealer and like any other GM Dealer across North America – can supply racers with the economical GM Crate Engine.

“Once again we’re excited about our Series,” adds Niagara Motors Parts Manager Dennis Willms, “we are happy to help out the Sportsman drivers at Merrittville.”

At the Awards Banquet – the Niagara Motors King of the Crates Champion will receive a $500 Gift Certificate redeemable at Niagara Motors towards the purchase of a GM 602 Crate Engine for 2012.

“Since the inception of the mandatory engine,” furthers Bicknell-Jones, “it has helped a number of young up and coming drivers make the move into the division … and brought some veterans back … while it provides stability, reliability and cost effectiveness … it also delivers performance.”

The GM Crate engine is a bullet-proof 350-horsepower, 350-cubic-inch factory-sealed racing engine and is a tough combination of power and reliability, and it fits almost any racing budget.

Based on GM Performance Parts’ popular 350 HO engine, including a brand-new, four-bolt-main block, 9:1 hypereutectic pistons, cast iron crankshaft and GM iron Vortec cylinder heads, the 350/350 Factory Stock version features a high-rise dual-plane intake manifold, 8-quart single kick-out circle track oil pan, valve cover kit with breather tube and breather, and special “kool nut” rocker arm nut design.

Niagara Motors has been providing award winning sales and service since 1946. Visit their dealership at 1537 Niagara Stone Road in Virgil or on line at www.niagaramotors.com.
