Smith takes checkers at 34 Raceway

BURLINGTON, IA (8/6/11) – The Miller Lite IMCA Modified feature saw sixteen cars take to the track with Rich Smith, taking the early lead. Mitch Morris would challenge Smith late in the twenty lap race challenging for the lead on the white flag lap. A caution would come out on lap nineteen setting up a green, white, checkered finish. The two leaders were bumper to bumper on the back stretch on the final lap but Smith would be able to pull away slightly at the end for the win. The point battle in the modified division is another close one with Brandon Rothzen holding a narrow nine point lead over Scott Hogan 354-345. Dean McGee follows right behind with 343.

Coming up Saturday, August 13 is I-Wireless/Danville Telecom Community night with $5.00 grandstand admission. See the J & J Steel/Ideal Ready Mix IMCA Late Models, Miller Lite IMCA Modifieds, Weikert Iron and Metal IMCA Sport Mods, Mike’s Auto Parts IMCA Stock Cars and Pepsi Hobby Stocks take to the track as the battle for the point championship. The point season is winding out down so its all out for these warriors of the raceway.
