BRIAN’S TIRE REPAIR PRESENTING MERRITTVILLE’S CHAMPIONSHIP CHASE FINALE AND AUTOGRAPH NIGHT
Thorold, Ontario (August 31) As the final point event for 2011 and Merrittville Speedway’s 60th Season … Brian’s Tire Repair will present the Championship Chase Finale for all 5 Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Divisions Saturday September 3rd.
“Race fans are in for a real treat,” exclaims (Merrittville GM) Erica Bicknell-Jones, “in our 60 year history … with a number of our divisions – the point standings could change every lap … prior to all the feature excitement – we’ll also have a real fan favorite event … Autograph Night!”
Mike Bowman became the 12th different winner in the 2009 running of the John Spencer Memorial – backing it up with a repeat win last season. Can he make it three in a row this year?
Barring disaster … Pete Bicknell will just have to start the Brian’s Tire Repair 50 lapper to win his 21st career title at the Thorold facility. Depending on who finishes where though … Mat Williamson once again goes into the final point event in second although with an almost insurmountable 58 points disadvantage.
Bowman is just 7 back of Williamson with Tim Jones and Tommy Flannigan rounding out the top 5.
In the Original Pizza Logs Sportsman Title Race, Brad Rouse sits atop the standings and would like to add his first season long title to the King of the Crates powered by Niagara Motors Crown that he has already earned.
Cousins BJ Willard and Cody McPherson are also in good shape for their first championships as the two are just 19 and 26 points behind Rouse. Defending Champion Greg Panunte and second generation driver Gary Lindberg close out the top 5 with Nick Cupolo just 5 points behind Lindberg.
Defending Champion Ken Sargent leads former Champion Rob Murray by 19 points going into the final Point Event for the Hoosier Stocks with the battle to close out the top 5 also one to keep an eye on.
Kevin Knapp, Dave Small and Billy Bleich are all just separated by 21 points.
For the second straight season, Josh Sliter could miss the final night of action in the J&S Heating and Air Conditioning Modified Lites and still win the points title.
Sliter is 72 points ahead of rookie Derek Wagner as the division prepares for it’s biggest event of the season next weekend. Just 20 points separate Jason Corless, Derek Moore and Randy Hollingshead.
Rob Overholt has already won the Turn 4 Collision 4 Cylinder Triple Crown Series Championship. To uncede defending Champion Rocco Conte, Overholt will have to make up 58 points to do so while attempting to hold off the balance of the top 5 drivers.
From Overholt through to Garnet Wilson, Rob Goulding and Kyle Pelrine – there is just 15 points difference.
You really couldn’t ask for a better Lucas Oil Weekly Racing Series Show … but wait … there’s more!
During the course of the evening – all of Merrittville’s race teams will assemble on the front stretch for an Autograph Session. The gates at the start finish line will open and race fans of all ages can take part.
Every driver will have custom autograph cards to sign for you and many will have special treats for younger race fans as well!
It’s all part of Brian’s Tire Night at Merrittville Speedway.
