GM Performance Parts renews bonus program for IMCA SportMod drivers competing with crate engines
BLANC, Mich. – IMCA SportMod drivers competing with crate engines are in the running again this season for bonuses from GM Performance Parts.
GM will give $250 bonuses for each Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMod track title won with a crate engine under the hood.
Bonuses will be paid after point standings become official in late October.
This is the third of three years for the current GM bonus program. Southern SportMods became part of the program after the crate engine option was added for that division last season. Bonus checks totaling $13,500 went to track champions in 2010-2011.
Northern SportMods will be part of weekly programs this season in California, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Southern SportMods are on the ticket for shows in Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Utah.
Both Northern and Southern SportMods will run in Colorado and at the Duel In The Desert special at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in November.
“The GM bonus checks at season’s end are a great return on investment for SportMod racers winning track championships,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder said. “As our rules packages continue to evolve, the crate engine has found a niche within this division and has provided a nice alternative for IMCA members.”
“We look forward to our continued relationship with GM Performance and plan on adding an exciting program for Super Nationals that we’ll announce this summer once the details are finalized,” he concluded.
More information about the bonus program is available by calling Yoder at the IMCA home office, or from GM Performance Parts at 810 606-3655.
