Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series To Open 2012 Season On April 7 With Second Annual Jan Corcoran Memorial At Canandaigua
Top Prize Of $6,000 On The Line In 64-Lap Event That Kicks Off DIRTcar Northeast Campaign
CANANDAIGUA, NY – Feb. 10, 2012 – When the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series rolls into Canandaigua Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 7, all eyes will be focused on Matt Sheppard.
Sheppard, 29, of Waterloo, N.Y., will begin his quest for an unprecedented third consecutive overall DIRTcar Big-Block championship when the division’s most prestigious tour opens its 2012 season with the second annual Jan Corcoran Memorial race. At $6,000 top prize has been posted for the spectacular lidlifter at the stalwart DIRTcar track.
A 64-lap feature sprint will face the Big-Block Modified racers when they roll through the gates to begin the second season that the ‘Land of Legends’ operates under the watchful guidance of promoter Jeremie Corcoran.
“I’m excited to be starting the year off with this event in honor of my Mother,” stated Corcoran. “Last year Billy Decker was able to win the race and this year it will be just as exciting. With the race serving as the season and series opener, it’s anyone’s game what will happen. And with the way the winter has gone so far, I can’t wait to get going.”
Sheppard topped Unadilla, N.Y.’s Decker in the overall Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series standings last season, grabbing the title with a dramatic come-from-behind run during the Lowes Foods World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C.
The remainder of the 2012 Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified Series schedule will be released shortly.
