Luke Whitteker graduated the one-year RACE 101 program on the weekend paving new ground along the way. Whitteker earned the program’s highest honour – being named Premier Driver – becoming the first dirt racer and the first Canadian student to earn that title.
This past Saturday night in Hickory, North Carolina, Whitteker, along with the graduating class of 2011 attended the Gala dinner and graduation ceremony to honor the students that have put so much time and effort into the program. Several awards were handed out, but none more prestigious then the final award of the night, which was the Premiere Driver award.
The premiere driver award goes to the driver that, in the eyes of the Race 101 staff, utilized all the tools that were given to them through the program to the fullest extent, and excelled in all areas. After a very difficult selection process, the final decision was made, and Luke Whitteker earned the award for the graduating class of 2011.
“I really have to thank everyone that was in my class this year. I made some great lifelong friends. I also have to thank Tony, Anna-Marie and Adam for all they have done for me this year, and I have to thank my crew and my family for everything they have done getting me down here” says Whitteker from the podium as he addressed the crowd at the Graduation.
The opportunities that lay ahead for Whitteker as premiere driver for Race 101 are immeasurable. He will get a chance to drive the Race 101 prepared Super Late Model in some events during the 2012 season and will have several other fantastic twist that come with the evolving Premiere Driver Award.
As we get closer and closer to the start of a new season, Luke Whitteker and the Whitteker Motorsports team would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support.
