Meltdown special starts season at Thunder Hill

MAYETTA, Kan. – The IMCA Modified winner goes home with $2,000 at Thunder Hill Speedway’s inaugural Fools Day Meltdown special Saturday and Sunday, March 31-April 1.

A minimum of $150 will be paid to start the main event, a qualifier for the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars and Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods both race for $750 to win, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400 and Mach-1 Sport Compacts for $150.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded.

Entry fee, if postmarked by March 23, is $75 for Modifieds, $50 for Stock Cars and Northern SportMods, $25 for Hobby Stocks and $10 for Sport Compacts. An additional $25 will be charged in each class for late entries.

Qualifying starts on Saturday and features for all divisions will be held Sunday. Pit passes are $30 a day or $50 for two days.

Adult admission to the grandstand is $10 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday. Kids ages 6-12 are $5 and five and under get in free both days. There is no charge for grandstand admission for military personnel with photo ID.

Pit gates and the grandstand will open at noon, the draw closes and the drivers’ meeting starts at 2 p.m. and racing follows 2:30 hot laps.

Open practice sessions for all divisions will be held April 14 and 21 at Mayetta. First local track points will be given April 28.
