Pre-entries top 100 for Duel In The Desert
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Eighteen states and two Canadian provinces are now represented in pre-entries for the Nov. 7-10 Duel In The Desert at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
IMCA Modifieds race for $7,777 to win and IMCA SportMods for $777 to win their main events. The Modified feature is a qualifier for the 2013 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot.
More than 100 drivers are already entered in the 15th annual special.

Both Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMods will compete in the same races with the existing rules for each division. Their Friday feature pays $500 to win with a top prize of $777 on Saturday.
Pit parking opens and Modified tech inspection begins at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7. An open practice begins at 4 p.m.
Tech inspection and the pill draw for Modifieds starts at 8 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8. Twenty heat races, 10 “B” features and the preliminary feature for Modifieds get underway at 5 p.m.
SportMod tech inspection and the draw for both divisions begin at noon on Friday, Nov. 9. That evening’s 5 p.m. program includes heat races, “B” features and preliminary features for both Modifieds and SportMods.
The Saturday draw starts at noon and racing begins at 5 p.m. with the SportMod last-chance and dash and Modified last-chance races. The Young Guns and Legends features for Modifieds and then SportMod and Modified main events finish the program.
Drivers 18 years of age and younger are eligible to compete in the Young Gus event; drivers 55 years and older qualify for the Legends race.
Advance entry fee, if paid by Nov. 1, is $200 for Modifieds and $100 for SportMods. Entry fees after that date are $250 for Modifieds and $150 for SportMods.
Twenty-eight cars will start the Modified main event, which pays a minimum of $777.
